School Education or Home Education: Which is Better for Kids?
It is very correct to say that education is not only about knowledge gained from books, but education is about the overall development of a child. A child needs physical, mental, emotional and academic development for a progressive life. So, I believe, for a child’s complete growth and development, school education is very important. Let us discuss more on school education or home education.
Let’s recall the days when there was a lack of an established education system when there were no or less trained teachers, and no classrooms available for children to get an education. In those days, children were not only deprived of education but deprived of their fundamental right to live a smart and healthy life. Because only an appropriate education system comprising of knowledge base books, trained teachers and classrooms can cultivate a child’s mental and emotional development.

In school education, children are exposed to various challenges that they might face in their adolescence after completing education. In classrooms, kids from different sections of society learn to coexist, which develops a sense of mutual respect and mutual cooperation amongst them. They learn not only to coexist but also to adapt and understand human emotions and values. With understanding different emotions, cultures, values and beliefs, the kids are emotionally developed as strong individuals.
For inculcating self discipline and passion, school education is very important. The role of a teacher in a child’s life is vital; therefore, the lesson of life a kid learns from the teacher becomes sometimes memorable for a kid. You may agree that even as adults, we remember the mistakes we commit in our school times and the punishments we got from our teachers make us laugh. So, school education helps in imparting emotional as well as personal development.
The role of strong communication skills can’t be ignored in a child’s development, so to make a child smart enough to express his or her ideas, a classroom plays an immense role. In a classroom, kids not only learn to understand another person’s emotions but also learn to exhibit their own emotions. By participating in school plays or dramas or extracurricular activities, the kids learn to communicate, which helps to build their confidence.
According to a renowned saying “Healthy mind lives in a healthy body”, it would be correct to say that physical education is one of the most important pillars of a child’s development. In school education, kids are trained with various physical exercises, yoga, and aerobics along with sports that help in keeping them healthy. A home education lacks in providing a healthy body to a child. By playing various outdoor games like cricket, volleyball, basket and many others, kids stay healthy. Also, indoor games like chess or word building games may also help in developing strong reasoning and analytical skills in kids, but for a healthy body, a kid needs physical education. Depriving a kid of physical education may result in a strong mind but not a healthy body.
In the time of Covid 19, it is vital for parents to decide on school education or home education. So, I believe, a child can’t be groomed in home education, a parent should consider school education for the overall development of a child.
